1974 VW T2 Campervan
The van was taken to Space Roofs in Devon to have the lovely new poptop roof, canvas and bed installed, which has the gas strut conversion, making it simple to open and close.
Brand new rubber seals were fitted to all doors and windows and once this was completed the interior was installed. Fresh sound deadening pads were fitted and the interior fully insulated throughout with closed cell insulation, a new 9 mm ply wood floor and 9 inch vinyl tiles from Madmatz. The interior, as per the rest of the van was a no expense spared venture and the panels, cab, carpets and seats were recovered with new foam padding from Newton Commercial Ltd. The furniture is show winning quality, equipped with Domestic hob, sink and compressor fridge appliances with both 12v and 240v power supplies for when on the move and camping. The attention to detail on the hand made furniture is easy to see, there is even a wine rack next to the fridge, plus many extra little areas to store items, plus the normal cupboards and drawers you wish for.
We started out with a rust free USA import van. Stripped to a shell and repainted inside and out in VW Strato Blue - it was important to keep with an original VW colour. A fresh rebuilt 1600cc engine was installed with new carb, alternator, belts etc. and has a full 12 month/12k mile manufacturers guarantee. Because we didn't need to spend copious amounts of time on welding and installing new panels, attention to detail was spent on completely new brakes, flexi hoses, pipes, shoes etc. finished off with a set of brand new gas burner wheels and brand new tyres.
As you would expect a camper with this level of investment and new parts runs and drives as well if not better than it looks.
